Dear Families, We wanted to send out an update on a few of the things going on in 5th grade. Again, thank you so much for your efforts in the bottle drive, the bake sale, and even some generous donations toward our end-of-the-year trip to Smuggs’! The bottle drive brought in around $1,800.00, and the bake sale raised a little over $1000.00. This is amazing! Coming in around $2,800, we feel confident in being able to cover student costs. A notice is going home today with more information, including parent costs. Also, in regards to our trip, the students are voting this week on a t-shirt design (student generated) and color for this year’s trip. After vacation, this will be revealed! We will also have a Smuggs meeting in May to discuss the trip in greater detail. We also wanted to thank all of the parents (and students) who were able to join us for our Spring Conferences. It is always energizing to look back on the year and see how much they have grown. We have started our SBAC testing for this year. Our schedule for this first week of testing is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Next week, testing will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will be very sensitive to student needs during this time, as we know it is a time consuming assessment. For that reason, there will be no homework during this time period. Please send your student with comfortable headphones if they have some at home! Hopefully, your student has been telling you a bit about our 6th grade transition activities. Last week, Matt Guyette and Caryn Olivetti joined us for a 5th grade meeting. They shared information about themselves, the building, 6th grade schedule, and different opportunities. Early next month, current 6th graders will come to tell our students about their daily lives at the middle school. We will also go for an all-day visit to FHTMS as a team on June 9th. Please add to your calendar: ***April 19th - Science Fair (set-up from 5:45 - 6:15, fair from 6:15 to 7:15, and clean-up 7:15 - 7:45) That’s all for now! Free free to contact us with any questions and/or concerns. Annick Kristen [email protected] [email protected] Danielle Lizzy [email protected] [email protected] This Week:
